FAQ

Yes, during the winter the door to let the dogs in and outside is closed to retain the heat inside, and often the dogs will pee on the walls to mark their "territory", however this does get cleaned daily and sanitized regularly. During the summer the door is left open and the dogs are let loose in groups together to run in and out at their leisure. the smell of wet dog may also emanate, if it's snowing or raining, or even melting during the spring.

No, dogs are usually all let out together unless a dog has shown aggression. They have free range of the facility and outside. This assists the dogs to play and run at their leisure. If you prefer your dog to not be mixed in with the group and would rather they spend their day in their individual kennel let us know.

We have had dogs needing medication and have provided insulin and other medication to dogs often. if the medication is time sensitive then we will make our way to the facility at the times which the medication needs to be administered.

Unfortunately there is no guarantee, we do keep vicious dogs separate from the group, and dogs known to bite on a different schedule then a group. Some dogs will do well playing together for days at a time, and without notice or provocation a dog will turn and attack. a dog that has never bitten before could potentially still bite another dog. In these cases we separate the dogs and assess the situation as to why the attack took place, sometimes a dog will have food or toy aggression that was unknown until that moment. take the toy away, and everything is fun and games again. other times we'll rotate the two dogs within the same group of dogs so that they don't see eachother, but get to play with the same group of friends.

This is the case with several dogs, they're unsure how to interact or socialize with other dogs. We try to do a slow introduction with some of the calmer dogs first so that smells can be done and the new dog isn't overwhelmed by a pack of dogs trying to sniff them. we work with their reaction to determine if the dog would be a good fit with more hyper playful dogs.

Some dogs have anxiety and are skittish around new people and dogs they are unfamiliar with. Visiting the facility prior to surprising the dog with a stay is important in these cases. a half day or full day daycare could help the dog get used to new people and her surroundings.

Dogs that are aggressive are still welcomed to our facility. We keep these dogs separate from others and allow them time outside their kennel as much as possible, but not mixed with the group. they interact with staff are able to relax alone in the office prior to going back into their kennel for some down time.

We suggest if your dog has never been boarded before, to bring them for a visit prior to an extended stay. It must be remembered that dogs don't understand quite what's going on and some may feel abandoned by their owners. So for their first extended stay we suggest bringing them a few times prior to get used to staff and facility, and to understand you are coming back for them.
